Nationals - 4
Orioles - 3 LP: Josh "McEasy" McEachin (4-1) 3B: Luc de la Soujeole The Orioles fall to their main rivals in a close game that was a painfully short five innings. The Nationals struck early against McEasy, scoring all four of their runs in the 1st. An infield single, hit by pitch, and walk loaded the bases with one out when a slider bounced on the plate and scored the first run. Gary "HotBoyz" Davis then bounced a ball that just eluded Tanner "Bachelor" Stevenson at 3rd base, resulting in a double and scoring another two runs. Gary came home on another single and the O's were down early. Frenchie led off the game and smoked a triple to the left-center gap, running through his stop sign to stop at 2nd. Anthony Cass, who tripled in the first game of the year, couldn't imagine that Frenchie is faster than he is. He scored when M. Garrabrants reached on an error to short. The O's would score two more in the 3rd inning after Bachelor hit a soft line drive to short. The short stop couldn't come up with the catch but knocked it down and overthrew 1st, which scored PCB and Jameson, cutting the score to 4-3. McEasy got into a groove after the first, not allowing another run in the following three innings, although there were many at bats which went 8+ pitches deep. Credit to the Nationals hitters for not going down without a fight. McEasy's line on the night: 4 IP, 4R, 6H, 2BB, 1HBP, 5K. He was helped out of the 4th inning by a pick-off throw from B. Coppedge to nail a lazy runner getting back to the bag at first. The O's threatened in the in the last two innings but just couldn't push the last run across to tie the game. The end of the game ended with line drive double play with Kurt "Special K" Karnowski smoking a ball to 3rd. A foot to either side would have scored the runner and push the winning run to scoring position, but that's just the way baseball go as Ronnie Wash used to say. The Orioles fall to 9-2-1 on the year and remain a clear top team in the league once again this year. Next Game: Sunday 6/26, Home vs Pirates, 4:00, Lake Highlands High School Probable Starter: C. Gladney
