Dallas Orioles Game Recaps
Your place to read about each and every game.
Due to working conditions and the holiday weekend, this writer is a little behind with the write-ups but not to fear, we're going to knock out both today so Kirk Pruitt can see who owns the boobstick on this day. 6/28/16, McInnish Park #11 Braves - 5 Orioles - 7 WP: Josh "McEasy" McEachin (5-1) 2B: Boston Coppedge In what has become routine this year, the Orioles downed the Braves with McEasy on the bump by a score of 7-5. McEasy has had a stellar run in his first season with the O's and tonight was no different with him facing his former club for a 3rd time this season. He started off the game doing it all himself with 2 K's and a popout to himself in the first three batters. While he didn't have the strikeout numbers that we've come to expect, he did still mow down four Braves in his four innings of work to give him 20K's in 12 IP against the Braves. He did finally give up a run in the 4th on a sac fly but that was all the damage he would allow on this night. The Orioles offense came alive in the 3rd, sending 9 guys to the plate and scoring 4. One out walks to Cody "QB1" Gladney and Carlos Colon set the stage for Jake "Jameson" Bellington who singled home Gladney and continued his hot hitting on the year. After a flyout to center by Kevin Simmons, the Braves made an error, allowing Frenchie to reach base and allowing the inning to continue. Boston Coppedge lined a double to right, scoring two and pushing the score up to 3-0. He was followed by longtime Oriole Steve "Lostboy" Garrabrants, smashing a single through the left side, scoring Frenchie and pushing the lead up to 4-0. After a empty threat to score by the O's in the 4th by loading the bases and not scoring, the Braves pushed one across to make it 4-1. That was as close of a serious threat as they would have with the O's pushing another three across in the top of the 5th. Frenchie started it off with a one out single and stole second base. He came home on another Coppedge hit to make it 5-1 and give Coppedge his 3rd RBI on the night. Back to back singles from Lostboy Garrabrants and McEasy scored another two runs and push the lead up to 7-1. Lostboy also made his 2016 debut on the mound and faced the minimum for two innings. Striking out his first batter to show he still had something in the tank, he did allow a single in the mix which was later erased on the common 2-1-5 putout to end the 5th. Another efficient 6th with a groundout to 3rd and two K's to finish his night capped the night for S. Garrabrants. Preston "PCB" Cole came on to finish up the 7th and ran into a little trouble with his command. PCB hadn't pitched in over a month when he threw two shutout innings against the Athletics so it was natural to have a little bit of rust. After a couple of walks and a single, he got a big first out on a flyout to left. While he did allow a double and hit a batter, P. Cole settled down after a quick conversation on the mound with B. Coppedge and proceeded to strike out his final batter to seal the win for the O's and push their record to 11-2-1. News and Notes Boobstick Transfer: McEasy seemed destined to receive the BS last game but was bailed out by Jameson's running error. This week, he was not as lucky. McEasy was running from first when Matt Garrabrants hit a high drive to the left field corner. A great play by the left fielder turned into a double play since McEasy was already at 3rd base, assuming the catch wouldn't be made. It does seem fitting that he would get it against his former club which he dominated through the season. Price to pay I suppose.
